# Total aboveground biomass, Pinus tecunumanii shade trees, exponential DBH+H

Aboveground biomass equation for Pinus tecunumanii, Peru, from Chalupová et al. 2026. 22 trees, DBH 9.9–43.8 cm. Listed on Tree Allometrics, a free library of tree allometric equations, each quoted from the source that published it.

## Equation

As printed in Chalupová et al. 2026 (Table 1 (form) and Table 4 (parameters)):

> B = a·exp(b·DBH + c·H); a, b, c = 41.459422, 0.059304, 0.024294

In this library's units, ready to compute (aboveground biomass in kg):

```
Aboveground biomass = 41.459422 * exp(0.059304 * D + 0.024294 * H)
```

Inputs: D = Diameter at breast height (1.3 m) (cm); H = Total tree height (m).
The source's own form: 41.459422 * exp(0.059304 * DBH + 0.024294 * H), with DBH in cm, H in m; output in kg.

A missing fit statistic is one the source doesn't state, or that we haven't recorded; it is never estimated. Outside the stated DBH range or region, the equation is an extrapolation.

## The facts, in the source's words

**Equation** (Table 1 (form) and Table 4 (parameters)):

> B = a·exp(b·DBH + c·H); a, b, c = 41.459422, 0.059304, 0.024294

Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/chalupova-2026-agb-exp/#equation

**Trees measured** (Abstract):

> A total of 22 shade trees were sampled, with diameters at breast height (DBH) ranging from 9.9 to 43.8 cm and total heights (H) from 6.3 to 38 m.

**Our note:** Parameters read from the HTML table pages (Table 4 gives the three parameters of each total model run together in one cell; split at six decimals, which reproduces a sensible biomass). Fitted by NLS directly on biomass, so no back-transform correction. B is dry biomass (kg). The paper reports pseudo-R2 and RMSE per model; not copied as r2. Models valid only within the calibration ranges. Table 4 pseudo-R2 0.76, RMSE 135.1 kg for the power-law; 0.75 and 137.2 kg for the exponential.

## Checks this equation passes

On every build, the library's form and the source's own form (in its units) must both give these values within 1%.

| Inputs | Expected | We get | From |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| D = 15, H = 12 | 135 | 135 | Computed from the printed form: hand-computed from the published form |
| D = 30, H = 20 | 399 | 399 | Computed from the printed form: hand-computed from the published form |

The calculator on the page shows carbon as biomass × 0.47 (IPCC 2006 Guidelines, Vol. 4, Ch. 4, Table 4.3) and CO₂e as carbon × 44/12.
