# Pinus patula total aboveground biomass from DBH (Tlaxco, Tlaxcala)

Aboveground biomass equation for Pinus patula Schl. et Cham., Mexico, from Díaz-Franco et al. 2007. 25 trees, DBH 6.7–64.1 cm. Listed on Tree Allometrics, a free library of tree allometric equations, each quoted from the source that published it.

## Equation

As printed in Díaz-Franco et al. 2007 (Resultados, Estimación de biomasa, p. 29):

> B = 0,0357 * DN2.6916

In this library's units, ready to compute (aboveground biomass in kg):

```
Aboveground biomass = 0.0357 * D^2.6916
```

Inputs: D = Diameter at breast height (1.3 m) (cm).
The source's own form: 0.0357 * DN^2.6916, with DN in cm; output in kg.

- DBH range: 6.7–64.1 cm. Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/diaz-franco-2007-pinus-patula-agb/#dbh
- R²: 0.98. Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/diaz-franco-2007-pinus-patula-agb/#r2
- Method: power model Y = b*X^k fitted to total aboveground dry biomass (stem, branches, foliage); no correction factor stated. Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/diaz-franco-2007-pinus-patula-agb/#method
- Verification: read in the original source

A missing fit statistic is one the source doesn't state, or that we haven't recorded; it is never estimated. Outside the stated DBH range or region, the equation is an extrapolation.

## The facts, in the source's words

**Equation** (Resultados, Estimación de biomasa, p. 29):

**model form** (Materiales y Métodos, p. 28):

**Our note:** Tabla 2 prints predicted total biomass at DN 5-65 cm; four rows reproduce within rounding. Decimal comma in the original. Biomass includes stem (stump cubed as a truncated cone), branches and foliage. The paper does not say whether the stand is natural or planted: trees came from a stand under forest management (aprovechamiento), recorded here as natural. The paper also prints a carbon equation (CC = 0,021 * DN 2.6451), not stored because it is not a biomass equation.

## Checks this equation passes

On every build, the library's form and the source's own form (in its units) must both give these values within 1%.

The calculator on the page shows carbon as biomass × 0.47 (IPCC 2006 Guidelines, Vol. 4, Ch. 4, Table 4.3) and CO₂e as carbon × 44/12.
