# Euphorbia schlechtendalii AGB from dbh (Table 3)

Aboveground biomass equation for Euphorbia schlechtendalii, Mexico, from Gómez et al. 2021. DBH 5–16 cm. Listed on Tree Allometrics, a free library of tree allometric equations, each quoted from the source that published it.

## Equation

As printed in Gómez et al. 2021 (Eq. 2, p. 4):

> ln(Y) = ln(a) + b ln(X)

In this library's units, ready to compute (aboveground biomass in kg):

```
Aboveground biomass = exp(-3.101 + 2.333 * ln(D))
```

Inputs: D = Diameter at breast height (1.3 m) (cm).
The source's own form: exp(-3.101 + 2.333 * ln(DBH)), with DBH in cm; output in kg.

## What it covers

- Output: Aboveground biomass, kg
- Taxon: Euphorbia schlechtendalii (species), family Euphorbiaceae; broadleaf
- Where: Sierra de Huautla Biosphere Reserve (Ejido El Limón), Morelos. Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/gomez-2021-e-schlechtendalii/#where
- Biomes: tropical, dryland
- Stand: natural
- DBH range: 5–16 cm. Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/gomez-2021-e-schlechtendalii/#dbh
- R²: 0.88. Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/gomez-2021-e-schlechtendalii/#r2
- Method: Linear regression of ln(biomass) on ln(dbh). Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/gomez-2021-e-schlechtendalii/#method
- Verification: read in the original source
- Last checked: 2026-11-02. Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/gomez-2021-e-schlechtendalii/#checked_at

A missing fit statistic is one the source doesn't state, or that we haven't recorded; it is never estimated. Outside the stated DBH range or region, the equation is an extrapolation.

## The facts, in the source's words

**Equation** (Eq. 2, p. 4):

> ln(Y) = ln(a) + b ln(X)

Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/gomez-2021-e-schlechtendalii/#equation

**Equation** (Table 3, p. 7):

> Euphorbia schlechtendalii: n 8(10)*; β0 -3.101; β1 2.333; R2 0.88

Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/gomez-2021-e-schlechtendalii/#quote-expression

**R²** (Table 3, p. 7):

> R2 0.88

Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/gomez-2021-e-schlechtendalii/#quote-fit-r2

**Output** (p. 4):

> Y is aboveground biomass (kg), X is dbh (cm)

Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/gomez-2021-e-schlechtendalii/#quote-output

**Our note:** ln(Y) = b0 + b1 ln(DBH), natural log, no correction factor stated in the paper. Aboveground biomass includes foliage and small branches (trunk and crown sections were summed). The paper lists n as 8(10)* (the starred figure counts individual branches treated as units); n_trees is therefore left out and the dbh range is that of Table 1.

## Checks this equation passes

On every build, the library's form and the source's own form (in its units) must both give these values within 1%.

| Inputs | Expected | We get | From |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| D = 10 | 9.69 | 9.69 | Computed from the printed form: computed from the printed coefficients |
| D = 20 | 48.8 | 48.8 | Computed from the printed form: computed from the printed coefficients |

The calculator on the page shows carbon as biomass × 0.47 (IPCC 2006 Guidelines, Vol. 4, Ch. 4, Table 4.3) and CO₂e as carbon × 44/12.
