# Kalimantan dipterocarp forest AGB, DBH only (D1)

Aboveground biomass equation for Mixed species of dipterocarp forest (80 species), Indonesia, from Manuri et al. 2016. 108 trees, DBH up to 172 cm. Listed on Tree Allometrics, a free library of tree allometric equations, each quoted from the source that published it.

## Equation

As printed in Manuri et al. 2016 (Table 2):

> D1 0.125 D^2.533

Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/manuri-2016-d1/#equation

In this library's units, ready to compute (aboveground biomass in kg):

```
Aboveground biomass = 0.125 * D^2.533
```

Inputs: D = Diameter at breast height (1.3 m) (cm).
The source's own form: 0.125 * D^2.533, with D in cm; output in kg.

## What it covers

- Output: Aboveground biomass, kg
- Taxon: Mixed species of dipterocarp forest (80 species) (mixed species); broadleaf
- Where: Dipterocarp forests of East, Central and West Kalimantan (Malinau, Bulungan, Kapuas Hulu, Seruyan), Indonesia. Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/manuri-2016-d1/#where
- Biomes: tropical
- Stand: natural
- Trees measured: 108. Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/manuri-2016-d1/#n_trees
- DBH range: up to 172 cm. Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/manuri-2016-d1/#dbh
- R²: 0.821. Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/manuri-2016-d1/#r2
- Method: OLS on ln-transformed data, back-transformed (REst correction); adjusted r2 on kg scale. Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/manuri-2016-d1/#method
- Verification: read in the original source
- Last checked: 2026-11-01. Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/manuri-2016-d1/#checked_at

A missing fit statistic is one the source doesn't state, or that we haven't recorded; it is never estimated. Outside the stated DBH range or region, the equation is an extrapolation.

## The facts, in the source's words

**Equation** (Table 2):

> D1 0.125 D^2.533

Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/manuri-2016-d1/#equation

**Trees measured** (Abstract):

> 108 trees

Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/manuri-2016-d1/#quote-fit-n-trees

**Our note:** Fitted by OLS on ln data; Table 2 reports fit after back-transformation with the REst ratio-estimator correction. The paper does not say explicitly whether that factor is folded into the printed power-form coefficient; used as printed. D at 1.3 m or 20 cm above buttress.

## Checks this equation passes

On every build, the library's form and the source's own form (in its units) must both give these values within 1%.

| Inputs | Expected | We get | From |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| D = 30 | 689 | 689 | Computed from the printed form: hand-computed from the published form |
| D = 80 | 8,269 | 8,269 | Computed from the printed form: hand-computed from the published form |

The calculator on the page shows carbon as biomass × 0.47 (IPCC 2006 Guidelines, Vol. 4, Ch. 4, Table 4.3) and CO₂e as carbon × 44/12.
