# Sonneratia alba total aboveground biomass, multiple power model (D, H)

Aboveground biomass equation for Sonneratia alba, Indonesia, from Pathibang et al. 2026. 8 trees. Listed on Tree Allometrics, a free library of tree allometric equations, each quoted from the source that published it.

## Equation

As printed in Pathibang et al. 2026 (Table 6, Multiple Power row):

> Multiple Power B = 0.033D^(2.518) H^0.253 88.5% 0.299

In this library's units, ready to compute (aboveground biomass in kg):

```
Aboveground biomass = 0.033 * D^2.518 * H^0.253
```

Inputs: D = Diameter at breast height (1.3 m) (cm); H = Total tree height (m).
The source's own form: 0.033 * D^2.518 * H^0.253, with D in cm, H in m; output in kg.

A missing fit statistic is one the source doesn't state, or that we haven't recorded; it is never estimated. Outside the stated DBH range or region, the equation is an extrapolation.

## The facts, in the source's words

**Equation** (Table 6, Multiple Power row):

> Multiple Power B = 0.033D^(2.518) H^0.253 88.5% 0.299

Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/pathibang-2026-total-multiple-power/#equation

**Trees measured** (Results and Discussion, p. 908):

> A total of 14 trees were felled to serve as measurement samples: 8 for model development and 6 for model validation.

Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/pathibang-2026-total-multiple-power/#quote-fit-n-trees

**R²** (Table 6, Multiple Power row):

> 88.5%

Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/pathibang-2026-total-multiple-power/#quote-fit-r2

**Our note:** Stand origin is not stated in the paper; classified natural from its reference to natural forest stands. Fitted on 8 of the 14 felled trees (the other 6 were held out for validation); the paper prints no DBH range for the fitting trees. Total is the sum of stem, branch and leaf biomass (Table 2).

## Checks this equation passes

On every build, the library's form and the source's own form (in its units) must both give these values within 1%.

The calculator on the page shows carbon as biomass × 0.47 (IPCC 2006 Guidelines, Vol. 4, Ch. 4, Table 4.3) and CO₂e as carbon × 44/12.
