# Guadua weberbaueri and G. sarcocarpa culm AGB from DBH (DBH-only model)

Aboveground biomass equation for Guadua (G. weberbaueri and G. sarcocarpa), Peru, from Yavit 2017. 278 trees, DBH 1.8–8.1 cm. Listed on Tree Allometrics, a free library of tree allometric equations, each quoted from the source that published it.

## Equation

As printed in Yavit 2017 (Table 1, DBH Model row):

> - 7.208 + 2.875x1

Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/yavit-2017-guadua-dbh/#equation

In this library's units, ready to compute (aboveground biomass in kg):

```
Aboveground biomass = -7.208 + 2.875 * D
```

Inputs: D = Diameter at breast height (1.3 m) (cm).
The source's own form: -7.208 + 2.875 * DBH, with DBH in cm; output in kg.

## What it covers

- Output: Aboveground biomass, kg
- Taxon: Guadua (G. weberbaueri and G. sarcocarpa) (genus), family Poaceae; bamboo
- Where: Madre de Dios and Ucayali, southeastern Peru. Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/yavit-2017-guadua-dbh/#where
- Biomes: tropical
- Stand: natural
- Trees measured: 278. Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/yavit-2017-guadua-dbh/#n_trees
- DBH range: 1.8–8.1 cm. Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/yavit-2017-guadua-dbh/#dbh
- Method: least squares linear regression. Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/yavit-2017-guadua-dbh/#method
- Verification: read in the original source
- Last checked: 2026-11-02. Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/yavit-2017-guadua-dbh/#checked_at

A missing fit statistic is one the source doesn't state, or that we haven't recorded; it is never estimated. Outside the stated DBH range or region, the equation is an extrapolation.

## The facts, in the source's words

**Equation** (Table 1, DBH Model row):

> - 7.208 + 2.875x1

**Trees measured** (Table 1, DBH Model row, n column):

> 278

**Smallest DBH** (Table 1, X1: DBH (cm) column):

> 1.8 - 8.1

Cite: https://treeallometry.org/equations/yavit-2017-guadua-dbh/#quote-fit-dbh-min-cm

**Our note:** Per-culm (ramet) aboveground biomass (culm, branches and leaves), linear in DBH; it goes negative below about 2.5 cm DBH. The paper reports Adj. R2 = 0.79 and RMSE = 3.86 (Table 1), not stored as r2 because it is adjusted. Output unit kg is read from the kg-per-ramet results and figure axes; the paper does not label the equation itself. The paper also gives complete (DBH, culm length, branch counts) and field (DBH, branch count) models, not added since they need variables outside the canonical list. Preprint, not peer reviewed.

## Checks this equation passes

On every build, the library's form and the source's own form (in its units) must both give these values within 1%.

| Inputs | Expected | We get | From |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| D = 5 | 7.17 | 7.17 | Computed from the printed form: hand-computed from the published form |

The calculator on the page shows carbon as biomass × 0.47 (IPCC 2006 Guidelines, Vol. 4, Ch. 4, Table 4.3) and CO₂e as carbon × 44/12.
