Add an equation
Send us the paper. We read it, record the equation with its quotes and checks, and credit you on its page. You don't need to fill in anything else.
What to send
- The paper
- A DOI or a link. If it is paywalled, attach the PDF. This is the one thing we need.
- The trees
- The species, genus or mix the equation was fitted on, and where they grew.
- The equation
- Which one, and where it is printed: table, equation number or page. Helpful when the paper has many.
- You
- Your name and organisation, so we can credit you on the equation's page. Optional.
Opens an email to info@restorationscope.com with these fields ready to fill.
Already on our list? Papers waiting to be read are in the reading queue.
What we do with it
- We read the paper itself, not the abstract or a compilation that cites it.
- We record each tree-level equation exactly as printed, quote every number we state (trees, DBH range, R², correction factor), and write it again in common units. If the paper doesn't state a number, we leave it blank.
- Both forms must reproduce a worked example within 1% before the equation goes in. The method has the detail.
- We reply with the link once it's live, or with the reason we left it out: stand-level models, remote-sensing models and papers that only apply an existing equation don't fit the library.
Corrections
A number that doesn't match the paper? Email us with the equation's id (it's in the page address) and where the right value is printed. Each equation page also has a “Report a problem” link with its id filled in.

Organisations and researchers who send papers or field data are listed here, with their logo if they want it, and named on every equation they gave. Send the first one.
If you work in JSON
Each equation is one file, each paper another, checked against a schema on every build. Read equations.schema.json and a real record such as aabeyir-2020-m1.json, then attach your files to the email. Once the repository is public, you'll be able to open a pull request instead.
